Vegetable oil as an alternative

The advantages of using vegoil are not confined to the individual car and truck driver. The local economy profits likewise from the use of vegoil. Further, it also contributes to a more stable oil supply in the face of decreasing resources and is much friendlier to the environment than fossil fuels.

Vegoil is a natural product extracted from oil seeds like rape, sunflower, soy, palm, jatropha, etc. Vegoil differs from biodiesel in that it needs no additional chemical oder physical processes beyond the pressing of the oil seeds and a filtering process.

Vegoil can be produced more efficiently than any other liquid renewable energy source. The liquid form is important since all existing combustion engines need a liquid or gaseous fuel. Its high heating value makes for an excellent fuel. The energy density of about 9,3 kWh per liter is between the values of gasoline (8,6 kWh/l) und Diesel (9,8 kWh/l). Planting 1 hectare with rape seed yields 1200 to 1400 l of rape oil.

Vegoil gives farmers the chance to make a significant and lasting contribution to the supply chain. Farmers can not only supply the raw material, vegoil, but also produce valuable by-products – for example, by additional pressing of the seeds to produce oil and press cake (to feed the live stock). An analysis made in Germany gives an idea of the impact of this development, one which has world-wide application: If about 20% of the Bavarian fields were used for oil seed crops, it would be possible to meet about 6% of the Bavarian fuel demand. This locally produced supply for 500 000 cars would replace crude oil imports costing about 150 million Euros per year.

Vegoil burns largely CO2-neutrally because plants release the same quantity of CO2 during combustion as they have taken from the atmosphere when growing. While industrial farming needs vast amounts of crude oil to be expended on production of pesticides and artificial fertilizer, and on transportation, oil seeds can be grown without chemicals and the soil retains its fertility.

Vegoil as a fuel for cars, trucks, tractors, and communal heating/power stations boosts the local and regional economy:
Energy doesn't have to be imported at an expensive price but can be produced cost-efficiently and locally by simple oilmills. A by-product of the vegoil production is press cake, a valuable animal feed which can replace expensive soy imported from non-EU-countries and often produced under non-ecological conditions.
All this is a big plus to the economy since the money stays in the region and creates jobs locally.

Vegoil is considerably cheaper than fossil fuel, as in most countries it is taxed with only the 7% VAT applied to groceries.
So it is profitable right now to use vegoil as a motor fuel. One liter costs about Euro 0,99.
